GLOMERULONEPHRITIS
Strep throat causes an immune reaction that recognizes the glomerulus, compromising the integrity of the glomerular filtration barrier. Protein concentration in the blood increases, temporarily raising its clearance from 0ml/min to 2ml/min (it falls back to 0, however, as protein clogs the urinary tubule). This obstruction causes an increase in hydrostatic pressure in Bowman’s capsule, which decreases the GFR.
